We bought a new home 2 1/2 months ago. I have to do part of my work on my computer in my home office. My son, age 23, takes online college courses. Our problem is loud neighbors, a young couple with 2 very small children. The very first weekend, they were up at 6:00 AM working on their vehicle with loud applicances, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, while screaming at their children, their children were also screaming. We could not even eat our Sunday meal together without them being so loud we could not even talk, this being with our windows closed. This was all weekend, Sat. and Sun. Throughout that first week, they continued with their noise, we heard everything they said, every time their children screamed, their car parked right beside our home, they slammed their doors, they have a noisy, loud truck they would let run right outside our window. By the 3rd weekend we were getting annoyed. This 3rd weekend, they were in their yard, screaming and throwing a ball around, which came over and hit our home. They came over, asked for their ball back, never saying they were sorry for hitting our home. We e-mailed the police and called asking questions about the noise. The police said they weren't doing anything illegal. The noise continued with their family visiting, barbeques right outside our home. We felt we lived with them as we heard everything they were saying, curses also. Then they bought a trampoline and put it in the back yard right beside of my college son's window. Of course, more screaming and noise. My son, again emailed the police, who now tells us the neighbors are threatening to sue us for harrassing them. Is this possible? Is there anything we can do? We haven't even finished unpacking and have already talked to a realtor about selling our home. We lived in an apartment for 5 1/2 years prior to this and got along with everyone fine there. This was a dream to have our own home and are very disappointed. Thanks.

The Police gave you the correct information. What can you do move thats about it or learn to live with it. As you were told they are doing nothing illegal
