I punched out from work last night at 10 pm and noticed on my way home that my left headlight was out. Of course at 10:29 pm I was pulled over for it about three miles from my house. The officer was a young kid, which is why I think he actually went ahead and gave me a ticket for "Maintenance of lamps." My question is if it's likely that if I go to court with documentation of my work schedule and the time that the ticket was issued if they'll let it go because there was nothing I could do but drive home at the time.

Thanks a lot for your time.

In my state this would be a correctable violation. It is possible that your state might allow you to correct the problem and then get it signed off.
