I'm in the process of starting my own business and I wrote up a contract for my clients that is based off of a similar company's contract. I'm wondering if there is something that I need to do in order for that contract to be legal and binding.

If you have offer, acceptance, and consideration, those are the essential elements. But there could be any number of things you need depending on what the contract is supposed to do. The only way to be sure it is adequate is to take it to a lawyer and get an opinion.
