Awhile ago my girlfriend and I bought a new refrigerator. 2 years later we got our old one fixed and decided to use that one since it was bigger, and put the 'newer' one in the garage. We had 0 issues with the newer one in the couple years we had it. We decided a couple weeks ago to sell it, and we made sure that it was still working fine. A buyer came and checked it out (opened it up and everything...it was working and he commented on no issues), then bought it and hauled it away.

Today he calls us saying it never worked and wants his money back. We told him that it was working at the time the guy bought it and we weren't inclined to refund it (as we offered no guarantee that it would work for X years without issue...only that it worked while we had it and was working at the time of the sale). He then told us if anything bad happens to us to remember why. He then emailed me saying he'd see my crooked a-- in court for the frige, gas and time, food cost and fees.

Should I worry about this?

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry, but I'd make a police report documenting his threats.

These are turbulent times and you never know how nutty or fruity someone could become.

If you really fear for your safety, give the creep back his money.

I just realized I mistyped my post...should have been "misrepresented"..oops.

Anyways thanks for the reply! We did end up calling the police about the threat on the phone just in case he does try anything along those lines. Now I'm just not sure if I should worry about him actually trying to sue me or not...it doesn't seem like he'd be able to prove it wasn't working at the time I sold it to him, especially since he himself has to know that it in fact was as he checked it out himself, yet he claims I scammed him.

If he sues you, he sues you.

Nothing you can do to prevent someone from suing you.

But, I thought you were worried about the threat?

Now you seem more worried about the lawsuit.

That's an odd reaction.

I'd be more worried about being physically harmed, than being sued, if I did nothing wrong.

Anyway, nothing to worry about in a lawsuit, because it was an operable refrigerator, right?

The sale is good. You don't have to worry about that. He won't get far if he tries to sue.

Make a report regarding the threat though... hopefully you saved the email. You don't want to wake up one morning to find you have slashed tires and smashed windows on your car...

If you make a report and show the email the police will likely contact him... and that should be enough to keep him from doing anything stupid.... hopefully.
