My divorce has just become final the beginning of Oct. and we both signed and agreed to the marital settlement. Divorce Decree filed at the court house the beginning of Oct too. In the marital settlement I ask for 3 personal items my HS diploma, certificates and my deceased grandparents lamp. I only received my diploma after emails and phone calls to her requesting these items. I emailed her again and called her many times. What is use of paying for a marital settlement when you don't comply with the items outlined in the settlement? I complied to all the terms in the settlement before the divorce decree was even filed at the court house. This divorce has taken 4 yrs and over $9K. I would like to know if I can file contempt of court on her. She does not return my calls or emails. If I can't file contempt of court she apparently can keep my stuff. My question is can I file contempt of court and why pay and go through a marital settlement if the other party does not comply with it?
