A friend of mine was married in the Philippines, a country that does not recognize divorce but recognizes annulment.
She and her husband were leaving in GA until they separated. They have a son, born here in the US, who is with her right now in the Philippines. She would like to file for an annulment but feels deterred because it takes a long time and she would like to move on with her life and have nothing to do with him anymore. She is contemplating on moving to CA with her son soon.
Can she file for a divorce here in the US since he lives in GA though they were married elsewhere?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and responding.

She can, but she will have to wait until she meets the residency requirements in California. That is, once she moves to CA, she will have to wait 6 months to file for divorce. Here's a link for more info:

This entire website is a wealth of information for your friend regarding the divorce process in California.

If your friend has concerns about whether or not the divorce will be recognized in the Phillipines, I don't know about that.

Good luck to her.
