Mechanics Lien

A year ago I had some frozen pipes while away on vacation. Several pipes broke and my house flooded. A plumber was hired to repair the plumbing and I was paid $8,000 by my insurance company. The plumber is owned $500 and I am willing to pay that amount. The plumber placed two mechanics liens on my home. One is for the $500 that is owned. The other is for $450 and I don't know what that is for. I have tried to resolve this by sending him a letter offering to settle the debt so the lien would be released and he has not replied to my letter. I want to file a motion or something to get a court date and handle this pro se and am looking for a road map of what to file to solve this. I have years of experience in family court and can prepare motions and other documents and need to know what to file and when to resolve this. I live in Vermont if that helps and thanks in advance for the help.

Mechanic's liens are extremely complicated.

If you insist on representing yourself, then you need to become totally familiar with the ML laws in your state.

In any event, you would be better off going to see the guy and getting it resolved so you can get the liens removed.
