I work at a grocery store in the Deli. I have had medical problems lately that I am getting tested, but it has had me in and out of the Emergency Room. I have missed work a couple of times for it, but nothing excessive. One of my managers sent me home one night because I was shaking, I was having an anxiety attack and was cleared by doctors to work that night. I come in for my next shift, and they have taken me off of the schedule and inform me that I will be on the next week with fewer hours because I was unreliable, even though I haven't called off since February when I was admitted the Hospital, and was sent home by a manager when I was having the anxiety attack. I am currently being tested for MS and Narcolepsy among other things. My manager was also discussing the situation with other coworkers without me present and without my knowledge. I was wondering if there is anything I can do. I am a part time employee and work less than 28 hours a week. Thank you for any advice.

I suggest you focus on your health.

You could discuss your concerns about potential privacy violations with your HR Manager.

Other than that, don't let a part-time job kill you.

Please focus on your health and do what is required to recover.

ArmyJudge - Thanks, I am focusing on my health, but I live on my own and need the hours I get at work to pay bills. I have all my appointments made and nothing is preventing me from preforming my job.

Peppermint - Yes, it's a fairly big chain of stores in this area. Many people have had more attendance problems than I have. I have not been written up and I don't leave or call off unless I am going to or in the hospital.

Contact HR about FMLA paperwork. Testing for purposes of a diagnoses is, to my recollection, an FMLA-qualifying condition.

I'm assuming you've worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12 months immediately preceding the time off for this testing, yes?
