I was charged with AWOL ( Absent without leave ) while serving in the U.S. Army. I was courtmartialled in a military court of law in Germany where I was stationed and convicted. I was sentenced to four months in prison, reduction of rank from E-5 sergeant to E-1 private, two thirds pay withheld, and was given a bad conduct discharge. I'm not sure if the circumstances for the AWOL matter but it was due to a terminal illness in my family and the Army was not cooperating with my request for a compationate reasignment. I did plead guilty to the charge because I was not going to lie for what I did do. The second count of AWOL, missing movement and desertion charge I plead not guilty to and was found-not guilty. That being said...My question is - Can I get my felony dropped from my record or at least reduced? It was four years ago and it is seriously affecting my chances at a good career. Thank you for taking a look at my question. I look foward to hearing from someone.
