Hi, I recently telephoned a car showroom and asked for an appointment to look at a particular Ford car. I arrived at the scheduled time and was shown three. Test drove one of them and then sat down to get the best possible deal. Chose one of the three that I had asked to look at, signed the despatch order form and paid over my deposit. The next day I looked at the paperwork and although I had looked at this car, it was not what I had asked to look at. I telephoned the showroom over the next couple of days to be told the person I needed to speak was not in and that the finance had been sorted. I telephoned the following day and asked to speak to someone in authority to cancel the order and get my deposit back. At this point I have not signed any finance papers. They have told me that they will "hold" my money until I visit them again but will not give it me back. It was also said during the conversation that I sounded young. I asked him what that had to do with anything. Is there anyway I can get my deposit back?

This is not legal Advice!

Your quote: "The next day I looked at the paperwork and although I had looked at this car, it was not what I had asked to look at".

Ummm, quite tricky realy because you have been shown three cars and then decide "by yourself" that one of them will be fine, then you get home and realise you have made a mistake. Well, first of all the company have not said they are not going to refund your deposite and they may still be able to show you a car you like.

Come back here and give us an up date as to your progress.

Take care.

Mark.
