If you are entering into contracts as a normal course of business, then you need to be the legal age/age of majority of 18. It can sometimes be done before 18 with a co-signer (such as a parent) on the business, bank accounts, etc. (If you were talking about mowing lawns or something where/if no contracts are necessary, then that could be a different story.)

Here are a couple of links re starting a busi. in Mn. that you might be interested in.

I'm not sure how old you have to be to start my own business in Minnesota, but I would like to know.

It all depends on the type of business you wish to start.

Generally, you'd have to be at least 18 years old, but if liquor is involved (or other adult activities), you'd have to be 21 years of age.

I suggest you discuss your plans with a local attorney, or Google "STARTING XXXX BUSINESS in Minnesota".

That should provide you some guidance.

Bear in mind, some businesses demand a minimum years of experience, as well.

If one were 50 years old, probably not a barrier.

But, if one were 18 years old and the business required 5 years of full time experience, maybe a problem.
