I recently rented a car. As I was driving in Nashville,Tn traffic, something flew from a truck and hit the side of the car, causing scratches on the driver side front and rear doors. upon returning the car I notified the counter that there were scratches on the car now due to the rock or metal hitting the car. She said "ok, thank you". Nothing more. about a month later I get a bill for over $700 claiming that I made the scratches sound minor and that I never filled out an accident report with the rental car company.
My question is, if I never was afforded the opportunity to fill one of these out, how could I? And secondly will my insurance company cover these damages? I have never had this happen so I don't really know how to proceed.
