I received a minor in possession ticket; B+P 25662(a) and I had two unopened beers in my purse. I'm eighteen, I hadn't been drinking at all, I was actually the designated driver and I was only carrying them because I had a purse. And the owner of the beers was 21, but couldn't carry them. The only reason the police officers were around the apartments I was at was because they got a call from a group of kids being at a park near by, but they saw us right at we walked out of our friends house. And I know, they were in my possession, but if I were to talk to an attorney on my court date and explain all this, would it be possible to get a lesser charge? Hopefully not get my license suspended? Help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Similar Situation
Hi,
I was issued a citation in a similar situation. I am 19 (and was 19 at the time) and I was on my way to an invitational (where we would be transported by bus) and had a gadorade/vodka mix in my pocket. Police officers were concealed in the crowd outside the bus, and an officer asked me what it was, and i was intimidated, and told him. He issued me the citation.
Finally, I receive the courtesy notice in the mail a couple of months later, with the exact citation being BP I 25662A*. I'm a little confused as to what the "I" means... does this change anything in terms of consequences or criminal record? What about the asterix? I have no priors, and I am wondering if anyone can give me advice as to how I should approach this... am I certain to get my liscense suspended for a year, or is that just a possibility.
Lastly, if this is relevant, I am being issued this citation in the place where I am a student. I am going home for summer vacation in about a month. To my understanding, I have to do some community service for this citation... will I be able to ask to do the community service in my hometown, or do i have to get it delayed until next year when I come back to the county where I received my citation?

The "i" likely refers to it being an infraction.
You'll have to check with the DA or ask the court when you appear to find out if you can serve community service in your home county or just pay the fine.
