Last night i was at a party and i was standing outside talking on my cell phone holding a cup of beer(I know now how rediculously stupid this is). I had been drinking basically all night and was pretty drunk when the cops rolled up and told me to drop it. I dropped my beer and my phone and the cops quickly figured out that i was drunk. About 30 min later i exited the cop car and walked home to my dorm. I am a college student at OSU and am not sure what will happen to me. I have no problem with paying a fine or community service but my biggest concern is that my parents will find out. I am 18 years old so i would assume that they dont NEED to but if the cops send something to my parents house it will be pretty obvious. Also I am interested in what to expect as far as legal ramifications.

To begin, OSU - Ohio State University - has it's own web page regarding your particular problem concerning some type of minor in possession, consumption of alchol, etc. I don't know your particular offense.

Your parents will probably find out and you may want their help and support - as well as a lawyer. It was not a smart thing but make sure that taking care of it yourself doesn't stick with you forever. This is not like a parking ticket. It's a pretty serious offense and in your case you were drunk, so it may be more than a "MIP" aka a possession issue. Good luck with this and do the right thing. Eventually time will heal the wound...
