This past Friday, I took my dad's car without his permission and went joyriding with some friends. I used to smoke pot and had a little pouch I kept rolling papers and my pipe in, and I brought that with me to a party because some friends of mine wanted to smoke and since I was coming to the party anyway, they wanted me to bring something for them to smoke with.

I had no intention of smoking (since I recently quit to focus on school), ESPECIALLY since I was driving my dad's car and didn't want to impair my ability to drive.

At the party, one of the friends I was driving around that night bought a 32oz beer and brought it into the car with him. Then we met up with another car with 2 female friends of ours in it. My friend who had bought the beer switched places with the passenger in the other car, so then in my car it was my friend who hadn't bought any beer, and this other girl (who was drunk already).

We were cruising around, and one turn I tried to take going too fast, the car went up on the curb, and the steering/suspension got screwed up and I couldn't drive anywhere. I was completely sober.

I still have only a provisional license (not allowed to drive passengers under 24y.o. or be driving past 11PM) and asked my two friends to start walking somewhere they could get picked up.

Only a few minutes later, the police arrived to start taking pictures, and talking to me about what happened. I was breathalyzed twice, 0.00 both times, and had a pupil dilation & finger-following test done on me.

Then my other friend called me, who had heard about the accident through the passengers in my car. He said he had left the beer in my car and I should try to get it out and hide it before the police get there... too late.

I hung up and immediately told the cops what my friend had told me over the phone. They took the beer out and put it on top of the car, then asked if there was anything else in the car they should know about. I said yes, my pouch was in the center console. They took it out, inspected it, and put it on top of the car as well.

When my mom showed up, they talked to her for a while, sorted things out, and ended up only giving me a citation for Minor in Posession of Alcohol. (I didn't have any weed in my pouch)

Here is what I need help with: I need to convince the judge that the alcohol was NOT mine, I never had ANY intention of using it, and I was trying to straighten out my life before the incredibly unfortunate accident. I cannot handle having probation on my permanent record, nor can I afford to pay any fines or lose my license.

Is there any hope for me to get out of this situation?

Thank you for any help,
-Anthony

You want to straighten out your life?

That's not what you said in your post:

That honestly hurts me that you'd say that, and not believe me.
You think I'm not trying to pick myself up? You don't know enough about me to say anything.

Get off your high horse, Mr. Senior Judge. If you were really here to help people, you wouldn't be trying to shut me down.

My friends still smoke and drink, yes. But I'm not going to stop hanging out with them, helping them, and being friends with them. They don't represent me.

Okay. Well, that clears things up.
