I have a few questions concerning my current situation.
I was arrested last week for MIP and possesion of marijuana. They searched my car after i had been pulled over and after i had refused to let them search it. Unfortunatly they did have a dog that hit on my car and they legally proceeded to search it after that. After some searching they found approximatly 7-9 grams of marijuanna and several beers.
They took me to the jail booked me and sent me on my way.
I got a city citation for both offenses, i recieved a summons to appear at court in july.
Now this was my first offense, infact i hadn't even been pulled over before and im a few days away from being 19 years old.
Questions:
1. What am i faceing as far as punishment, Fine? Rehad classes? ect.?
2. Do i really need a lawyer? How could he/she help if i did? How would i go about getting a lawyer anyway?
3. I don't plan on bringing this prob to my parents, they pay for my insurance. Will this affect my insurance at all? If so im sure my parents are going to find out.
4. Finally, I would like to no if these charges will affect, Getting jobs, college stuff, or anything of that nature.
From what i no thus far i have heard it should only be a fine of somewhere around 500$. The cop said it shouldn't affect much of anything because it was only a city citation and not a state citation.
