I am 18 and received an MIP for carrying an unopened container of beer for someone who was over 21. I was not breathalyzed, and both my friend (who is over 21) and I told the officer that the beer was not mine. I really had no intention of drinking it, I was carrying it because my friend had forgotten it in his car.
I talked to a couple other people who had received MIPs and they said they paid around 300 in fines and had to do 30+ hours of community service. Since the container was not mine, unopened, and I was not breathalyzed, do I have a chance at getting this citation dismissed?
I have a court date on Nov. 5. How will this affect my record if I don't get off?
