I am 20 years old and live in MI. My friend and I were camping in a State Park campground with my parents for the weekend. We met a group of people about our age, around 25, so they were all legal. My friend and I were drinking all day and were intoxicated when the night arrived. I was more so than he was so I decided to go to my tent and pass out and sleep for the night. My friend went a couple campsites over to bs with the group we met. The Park is pretty strict about noise at night, so when the DNR came around to tell the group to quiet down, they saw the beer and asked everyone for IDs. They told my friend to stand by a tree to pat him down because he was the only one there underage, which I get.

So the DNR asked him what site and who he was with and he told them where. He told him he was with his friend (me) but he was sleeping. The DNR told him to wake me up and bring me to them. My friend said something into my tent but I was in a good sleep and didn't wake up. So the DNR got my parents to wake me up. Next thing I know, they put a Breathalyzer in front of my face and I was blowing .21 and getting a MIP ticket.

Now I understand I was drinking and was intoxicated. But I am wondering if they had enough legal suspicion to make my parents wake me out of my tent, just for a breathalyzer.

I have a court date next Thursday, so I am asking for advice and what to do. Thanks.

By the way... I am a full-time college student with good grades. I also have never been in trouble before besides a speeding ticket, If that helps at all. Thanks again.

In some states, it is legal to drink in the company of your parents. Check your state laws. It does sound odd that you were not with the group and they went and got you from a different area...maybe you need to seek a lawyers advice about that and see what he or she advises.
