I am 20 years old.
Location: Chapel Hill, NC
So, sometime in july... I mean: "on or about 2:32 am july 6, 2007" I was walking home from the grocery store. Well I had about 4 beers about 2 hours earlier. Headlights behind me and I was like "watch that be a cop." and it was; they seem to love to stop me walking lol. Anyway he says he smells alcohol and comes out of his SUV threateningly. I was so scared I admitted drinking, and he said he smelled something else aswell, and I say nothing. Meanwhile 8 other cop cars (no joke) pull up and the cops are joking with each other "slow night ehh." the first cop told 5 of the new cars to leave making it 4 cop cars and 5 cops. I was completely cooperative and polite; I had my head down as I was ashamed. He gives me a breathalizer and I blew .02. HE goes back to his SUV, with me standing in his headlights, by the front quater panel heh. the other cop smiling at me, and then they where laghing when they asked me if I knew where the courthouse was and I said no. It's not like I had ever been there jeez.
he writes me the citation:
1. being less than 21 years old possessing malt beverage. G.S. 18B-302(b)
The weird part is he checks the box that says I DO NOT have to apear in court. I only have to pay amount shown below to address shown below. He didn't fill in the amount of the fine or the address and he told me to appear in court, so I am confused about that.
My court date is on oct. 1, 2007
I guess I have to plead quilty (said had 4 budweiser, blew .02)
any advice? what am I facing here? fine? comm. service? I hope not jail, seriously.
I do not have a criminal record besides this if I am found quilty.
Side note: I have not had a drink since that night and don't plan to.
