Hello,

I was recently charged with Minor in Possession and Consumption (2 Tickets) In Illinois, Jersey County. I did not take a breathalyzer. They basically arrested me, searched my car and took out the alcohol that was in there. I never admitted to it being mine or drinking. I wasn't holding the alcohol or anything, it was all in my backseat,I was eating mcdonalds when they pulled me over.

Anything I can do to fight this?

Double jepordy. Consumption is possession. How can you be charged twice for the same crime?

At 20 years of age, are you legal to transport alcohol? You may be able to transport, check into it. Maybe you have to be 21 to transport, but I would look into it.

Why did they stop you to begin with?

I had a license plate suspension that I was unaware of (until the night I was pulled over). I called the State of Illinois regarding the matter (because I do have insurance) They said that I failed to return a survey that asked for my insurance information and registration. Which I may have thrown away thinking it was junk mail. Thats why I was initially pulled over
