Ok...so I was at a minor league baseball game the other day with some friends from work (after a long and insanely stressful day) and my friends both had beers. I being only 19 didnt have one, although I did take a few sips off my friends beer, just cause I was thirsty and frankly...a few sips of beer sounded awesome after the day I had.

Unfortunately some cops were watching us and decided to card us, and ended up gaving me a citation. Im not sure if its a minor in possesion or in consumption...because on the ticket it said violation of ordinence 96, which I googled and found out was Noise Pollution...is this correct? Is there any chance the cops made an error or cut me a break?

Second thing is...what kid of penalty can I get from this? How should I plead? What should I do in this situation...its my first offense, and I have no idea what to do with somthing like this. I obviously cant get help from my parents because they would not only kill me (and probably themselves too to be honest) and because they live in washington state.

If anybody can help me out with this situation you have no idea how much help it would be. I can handle anything but jailtime. Anything more than a day or 2 in jail and I could lose an awesome job that I have and make me unable to support myself like I have been doing so well since I moved out and started going to school etc.

Again thanks for any help provided.

Rule number one 1, don't believe everything you read on Google. Research New Mexico State Statutes look up MIPs and even that ordinance 96 then you will know. Rule number 2 , get your information from a trusted site make sure your on the state info page or something or call the local fuzz and ask them what an ordinance 96 is. Rule number 3, know who's watching you.
