I got my first MIP last night, I'm 17. Along with me there were 6 or 7 other written up. Now the question I have is they were given permission by my mother to come in, but as they came down after a short time they began tearing up my futons matress and searching all over. I never gave them permission to search my room, we gave them permission to enter the house. Also, I believe I was harassed by an officer who asked if we had a bowl of marajuana or some meth down here... doesn't that seem a little specific, couldn't he have just asked if there were any other illegal substances? Soon after my friend went home, he was asking me if he was on drugs. Earlier on, I was being questioned on who contributed the alcohol and I honestly did not know who bought it. And the officer proceeded to hound me, yelling at me saying I DID know in my own house after I had looked him in the eye and told him I didn't know, he made me feel very inferior the way he was in my face. I went up stairs and punched a wall, two cops came up and inferred that i was threatening them and told me that they dont want to make things worse... implying by being physical. I would like to know what, if any, charges I could put on these officers.

Those sound like some pretty corrupt cops if you ask me. I'd definitely get a hold of an attorney or public defender. And being that your parents are obviously in the know about the situation, I would consult with them as they would be your witnesses and could defend what you say happened as well. While you were in possession of alcohol, it's very suspicious that they'd destroy your property and insist that you or friends had drugs. Cops aren't invincible like they may think, I'd definitely go after them for some kind of property destruction as well as harassment if they pressured you as such. Definitely get some legal council and assistance with this. You'll probably have to end up paying the MIP, but at the same time you have sufficient charges that can be brought against the officers and it might even cancel out the MIP ticket in the first place.

I'm sorry, by tearing up the futon I meant ripping the mattress off of the frame and looking under my bed and what not. I still think that would be illegal searching wouldn't it? Noone gave them permission to do that.
