i am an 18 year old college student in michigan, i was recently camping with some friends of mine at a camp site that was registered under my name. there were some people drinking but there were people that were over 21 with us. the people who work at the park came to our camp site 2 miniuts after quiet time and said not to move or hide the beer because DNR was on the way. everyone was very respectful and did not try to hide the beer. when the DNR officer arrived the park employees then singeled me out to the officer and told her that i was the one drinking. i did not have at any time when they were there any alcohal near me! she then proceded to write me a tickett for a minor in consumption and did not ask me if i was drinking and did not give me a breathalizer. she looked at 3 other ids some of which were 21 year olds who told her that it was their beer but she still wrote me a tickett.

I was wondering if they are aloud to give me this even though they have no proof that i had anything to drink? or that it was even my beer? and if they can i was wondering if pleeding guilty or innocent would be my best choice to get out of this with the least amount of stuff on my record?

youthful offender plea

i really dont see how you can be charged with MIP if the others that you were with confessed that it was their. they should of been the ones charged with MIP unless they were 21 which in that case would be aiding to the delinquincy of a minor which too would be on them not you and you would of got a minor in consumption charge which i believe is a lesser charge
im not sure how it is in michigan but im from alabama and a couple of years ago they passed the youthful offender act which, if you are onder the age of 21 you can plea youthful offender and they will suspend your drivers license for 3 months, a bit of a fine, and court costs. By pleading youthful offender the record is sealed and its kinda like a get out of jail free card. on a job application you dont have to state that you were convicted of a felony and if you try and get a student grant for college its the same, its kinda like it never happened. If you have a second offense however then that will go on your record. its a sealed record and its only availible to law enforcement. i suggest that you look into that ASAP because it will save you a lot of trouble in the future. good luck
