On the 5th of December I got pulled into the HR persons office and told that I was being let go due to downsizing. On the paper it said, "Separation reason: temporary lay off" she went out of her way to let me know that i didn't do anything wrong, it wasn't my fault, it's just that they were making cut backs and my job was sadly one of them.
I accepted this, it was okay. I didn't like the place anyway. So I go to file for unemployment and now it says that "i am being denied unemployment benefits because of misconduct that may have occured at my job." I never did anything. I never got pulled away to the side to be reprimanded, I never got any verbal warnings, no written warnings. Nothing at all.
Is this common? How can I get terminated due to misconduct when the paper that I have from the company says "Temporary Lay off" and I didn't do anything wrong?
