I was issued a citation ticket for shoplifting below $50 last week and i am a greencard holder. I consulted and hired a criminal lawyer and they are confident it will be dismissed. My worry is, i have to renew my greencard for another 10 years next year and if my case is still on going or hopefully by then it's dismissed , what are the immigration consequences that i'll be facing? Will i be in trouble renewing it next year? my lawyer said since it's just a citation ticket when it's dismissed it won't be seen no more in my criminal records. Is that going to be the same with my immigration record it won't appear? Please Help. Thanks

I don't know the immigration side of it, but I can tell you it is extremely unlikely that a citation for petty theft would still be an ongoing case into next year.
If not dismissed, it may be handled as an infraction. In infraction is not something that would be an issue for immigration.

I would listen to your lawyer. You "most likely" will be ok renewing your green card.

Thanks for the information guys i really do appreciate. My lawyer told me that he doubt it this would affect my immigration status, but he wants me also to gather information from the immigration point of view because his knowledge is not that wide enough in this field since he is a criminal justice lawyer.

You could run it by an immigration attorney.

A free consultation with an immigration lawyer will answer your concerns. However if you get case reduced to infraction or ACD or diversion you should be fine
