I was arrested for smoking a joint with a friend of mine in his vehical. I am willing to plead guilty and face the penalty. When I showed up for my court date I was taken into the hall of the court house and told by the judges assistant that I needed to hire a lawyer and I was given a new court date. I am wondering what will happen if I show up without an attorney again and why, since it is a misdemeanor charge, it seems like I am being forced by the court to hire an attorney? The judges assistant said the judge would not hear my case if I did not have a lawyer insisted that I hire one,
