I have misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia possession charges pending. This is a first offence. I have already asked for a continuance because I was just going to plead guilty and didn't have the money at my first court date to pay whatever the fine might be. My new court date is this week and I still don't have the money or a lawyer. I waived the public defender because I didn't think I was eligible for one. My questions: how much might the fines be, what happens if I go to court and don't have any money that day to pay fines, can I get another continuance?

The answer to your question is that yes, you generally are going to be asked by the court if you want to pay in full on a future date, or make payments on the total. To be honest, very few people show up in court with the full amount, ready to go.
