I have lived in my ground floor apartment for approximately three years. I have not a problem with mold prior to now. Initially, I had a leak from the upatairs apartment through my bathroom ceiling which caused significant damage to my property. I am an artist. I had two $40.00 canvases in an adjacent closet which were ruined as well as an oil painting that has also been damaged. I now have mold growing on my bathroom ceiling I reported the issue of the mold; the landlord treated the area with Tilex and repainted over the mold. About a week later the mold reappeared in my bathroom and has also spread to other rooms in my apartment. I have a wool coat, luggage and other miscellaneous items that have been severely damaged by the mold. I would like to know if the landlord is liable for my damaged property.

Unless the landlord specifically caused the leak which resulted in the mold, no. If you have renters insurance you can file a claim for any damages to your property.
