Why not box up half of the belongings and mail them to your sister?

Or, write her a letter and tell her she has 90 days to contact you to retrieve the loot she desires!

By law, the only two heirs your mother had were you and your sister.

Don't get the court's involved, all that would do is allow the tax man to legally steal some of mother's stuff.

Be smart. Compromise and accommodate each other.

I've been trying to say that all along. Family is all we have really. But she won't talk to me. She doesn't talk to anyone else in the family, like aunts, uncles, grandmother, half sister (different mother than us). It's sad.

I did some more researching last night after posting this and have a pretty good grip on things now.

I'd really love to get the whole dividing everything in half done already. But I have no way of contacting her. Her name is so common its virtually impossible to search for her on social networking sites, which is really the only way I'd be able to find her.

I still have everything though. And I still have the same phone number and address as several years ago.

Write her a letter asking her to contact you about dividing mom's property. See if the leeter comes back returned.

She may get it and respond.
