Mother in law

My Mother in Law is dealing with increasing health problems. Our intentions are to try and take care of her at home. Our concern is that if she should have to go into a nursing home even if just temporarily, what would happen to her house? She still has a mortgage on this house. Her will is that her son (my husband) will receive it when she passes away. If she were to go into a nursing home would she lose this house? If so what can we do to prevent this from happening?

As long as she keeps up the payments, she doesn't lose the house. If/when she dies, the house passes to her son, subject to the mortgage, and he gets to keep up the payments.
