My FORMER fiance bought me a car in April 2008 for my Mother's Day GIFT. I had not asked him for the vehicle nor did I know he had already bought it. While I was at work, he dropped it off, brought the key inside and left, it was here when I arrived. He told me he would pay the insurance until it is paid off and of course he has been true to his word. It is registered in both of our names.
However, he became enangered with me this past Thursday, and unbeknownst to me at the time, he was sitting down the street waiting for me to pull up. When I came in the house, he took MY car. When I woke up the next morning, it was gone. (He had told me a few days prior to this that he was going to do it, and he did.) How can I legally retrieve my GIFT/vehicle.
When I called the police they told me exactly what I knew they were going to - it isn't actually stolen because he owns it also. The dispatcher told me if I know where it is I can do the same thing and of course it still will not be considered as stolen because I own it also. I want my car back. Chgo., IL.
