My jurisdiction is: California

My landlord asked me to clean under and behind refrigerator and stove in the kitchen before I move out. I have kept my place quite clean. Yet I am sure the place has become dusty after staying for more than 2 years. How clean is reasonable legally? I am afraid that my landlord will deduct my security deposit.

Thanks,

As a general rule, a rental unit needs to be left in the same shape it was when you moved in.

If you are worried that your landlord will deduct cleaning from your security deposit, clean before you leave (including behind and under the stove and refrigerator) then take pictures of the shape of the place at your move out.
