I currently reside in Michigan and am having a ton of troubles with my roommate. This has provoked me to move out of my house as soon as possible. I just got done talking to my landlord and she told me that they can take me off the lease since I am only an occupant on the house but she can't guarantee I won't see any repercussions from them. The thing is we never had any written agreements between us stating that we will live in this house until such and such time. In fact we do not have any agreements between us whatsoever. The only way I am connected to this house is the fact that my name is listed as an occupant on the lease. My question is when I take myself off of the lease is there any way that she might be able to file a claim against me forcing me to pay my rent and bills if my name is no where to be seen on anything?

What does your lease say? The lease says something. If it's month to month or no time stated, give the landlord 30 days notice that you are leaving and terminating your month to month relationship and you should be able to leave. Telling you there may be repercussions without saying why or what doesn't seem to impress me. The bottom line is what is written in your lease.
