I'm currently contemplating divorce and had a question about moving out of the marital home. Both of our names are on the title and the mortgage. It has became an unheathly living situation for me, althought not physically abusive. I'm afraid that when I get the process rolling, it will became even more uncomfortable. I've read before that once things go sour, it is best to seperate and not live together during the divorce proceedings, as it can make things even worse. I would like to do this, but I cannot afford both the mortgage payments and rent for an apartment. I also do not know anyone in the area that I can stay with.

Aside from the obvious financial related problems with not paying a mortgage, what would be the ramifications from a divorce standpoint with ceasing payment? I'm afraid my only option will be for us to live together during the divorce, but I wanted to explore all my options. Is there anything else I can do??? HELP!!!! Thanks.

Weel if you move out and the mortage goes into default, your credit will be trashed. You can either make half the payment until you 2 decide what to do, or let the house go back to the bank. You can talk to your husband about getting a roommate or something to help out with the bills.
