I am a veteran receiving care at a local VA Medical Center. Numerous times VA staff has placed my life and safety in jeopardy (I recently had emergency open heart surgery and am dealing with all of the medical and emotional consequences of this medical emergency).
After my discharge from the hospital my Pain Management Therapist railroaded me. She gave me intentionally misleading information as a way of duping me into unwittingly being an (involuntary) Human Test Subject for the Intern Training Program. Long story short, the result was a malicious misdiagnosis and a failure to make and treat me for the Correct Diagnosis.
I've been involved in a monumental struggle to get my care providers/clinicians to correct the false and inaccurate information they've placed in my medical records. I've sent secure electronic messages to my Trauma Therapist challenging her refusal to correct her misstatements and other errors that she placed in my medical files (as it negatively impacts my medical treatment, veteran benefits and the way other clinicians interact with me.) One of my messages suggested that I will make a formal complaint to the state licensing board if necessary. I also asked for COPIES OF ALL ASSESSMENT REQUESTS, CONSULTS AND RESULTS. In another secure electronic message I informed my trauma therapist of her duty protect patients from harm (and her failure to do so).
My trauma therapist and pain management therapist's boss has contacted the VA Police, who have issued me a CITATION for "Disorderly Conduct". Now, as a middle age and critically ill veteran (I'm in and out of heart failure) with no criminal history, I have to appear in district court where the police officer said that I will probably get a record, be placed on probation and have to do community service.
How does something like this happen in a democratic society?
