my boss texted me and asked if I could work Saturday, I said no. He then tested me back and said ok you are fired. Is this legal? HE then the called my mother and told her I was terminated. He never contacted me verbally AND that was a violation of my confidentiality. What are my rights?

If you're a minor, you have no rights.

If you're an adult, you still have no rights.

He didn't even need to tell you why you were terminated.

I'd say he's a very caring boss.

Of course it's legal.

Nothing illegal or even vaguely wrong happened here.

Why do you believe you have a right to confidentiality that is protected by law?

He didn't have to contact you verbally. Your boss makes the rules & if you wouldn't or couldn't work when he needed you, you can certainly be terminated (unless you had a binding employment contract to the contrary which would be very doubtful) & I don't see a violation of your confidentiality. Sorry.

The state will decide if you qualify for unemployment ins. benefits & not your employer though your employer can contest payment.

You also need to look for another job as cbg noted.
