Mugged & want to prosecute using audio recording

I live near a sketchy area, and coming home late one night I was mugged. I've since overheard friends of his talking about the mugging. They obviously aren't going to go to bat for me in court. But if I can get an audio recording of them describing him and the crime, can it be used as evidence? What other ways can I go about obtaining admissible evidence? What's sufficient for a prosecution?

You should report to the police and let them go about getting what they need. They will know what can be used and done, that way you dont do all of that for nothing.Good luck.
