Multiple Traffic Violations and Prayer for Judgement

I used to live in Ohio, where this type of thing would only be a ticket, but now I live in North Carolina.

I left my house around 5:10 to meet my some friends at Oh Mulligans in
Morrisville. I arrived there about 5:30, but did not realize that I
did not have my wallet on me until a little over an hour later. I sped
home down 540 to pickup my wallet, when I got pulled over by a
trooper.

He said he clocked me at 84, but that he thought I accelated to 90
around a turn. He gave me a ticket for 90 instead of 84 and also
charged me with operating a vehicle without a license, because
I was trying to go back home to get my wallet.

Additionally he charged me with "Operating a motor vehicle on a street
or highway without due caution and circumspection and at a speed or in
a manner so as to endanger persons and property". My ticket says
"Weather - Clear", "Visibility - Clear", "Traffic - Light", and "Area
- Open Country". I was pulled over at 7:02PM with barely any other
cards around, so I do not know what persons or property I was
endangering, but that is the law here.

I have lived in NC for 18 months and have never gotten a ticket. Does anyone know if I can show up at court with a copy of my license and registration and use my prayer for judgement? If not, I guess I will have to get a lawyer.

Thanks you for your time.

Yea, your really need a lawyer. NC takes speeding over 80 very seriously. Reckless charges are not very common so you are in very deep. You will be receiving a bunch of offers to help in the mail soon, another feature of NC...

PJC may have helped forgetting your licence but will not apply to the rest. First convictions for speeds 15 over and/or 80+ earn 30 day suspension. Wreckless (and/or being convicted of any of the preceeding are Class 2 Misdemeanors (criminal record).

You are looking at a significant suspension of you licence and a 2-4X increase in your insurance without help. Take this very seriously and get come professional help to minimize the concequences.

I'm not trying to be mean but most people would drive 5 under the limit knowing the left their licence at home -- the trooper was sending you a big time message ...

For the facts, see:

I agree with robbie, doing 90 on the way home when you knew you didn't have a license was just asking for trouble.

You should be able to get the driving without a license dropped to court costs, once you
show that you did have a license at the time, it was simply not on your person.

Driving over the speed limit in an of itself can be considered careless and reckless, driving 30+ mph over it for sure can be. Assuming the limit was 55, you were doing more than 30 over that. You were lucky the officer didn't arrest you on the spot.
