i didnt know what topic this fell under, so sorry if it has to be moved later. i have recently been haveing trouble with 2 of the municipal councilors here. i have a small contracting buisness. the councilors have recently insulted our chief building official so abddly, that he has quit. now the job i am currently on doesnt require a building permit for any reason, it is only some small things being done, but since the 2 councilors spend most of the day at the local coffee shop, they have been doing alot of public discussion about my current job. i live in a small town (less than 300). last week, because there is no building official, 1 councillor and the town clerk took it upon themselves to come to my jobsite, before 7am and search the entire site. thye left me notes of "advice" and left. they come onto this property without my nor the owners permission without notice. the whole thing is begining to cost me much time and grief. my question is, do a town councilor and a clerk have the legal right to enter any job site im on, without any permission from me or an owner at any time of day to inspect what i may or may not be doing? ive always known that the chief building inspector has many powers, but this seem like a streach for me. thank you for your time. jamie lundgren
