I heard from an attorney a few years ago that a corporation can ONLY be represented by an attorney in court. I didn't ask him if that rule applied to SMALL CLAIMS court. If it's just a 1-person run S-Corp, must an attorney represent the company in small claims court?

Without knowing your jurisdiction, it is impossible to tell. But I know of no jurisdiction that REQUIRES a corporation to be represented by a lawyer in any level of court. Corporations can be represented by laypersons in small claims or in superior court.
