My Friend wants me to raise her baby

My friend is pregnant but she wants to make me the baby's legal guardian and raise the child. She's not sure who the father is and can't raise the child her self. We are both in agreement for me to become the legal guardian. We need to know if we have to go to through a lawyer or court or can we have an agreement drawn up and have it notarized and take care of things ourselves?

I suppose you can get some sort of guardianship but if you want any sort of custody or child support you will have to go to court. If you or mom goes on any type of gov't assistance the father is going to have to be located abd child support filed.
