My girlfriends ex-boyfriend ran up her credit cards while they were together

My girlfriends ex boyfriend ran up her credit cards while they were together. They have been broken up for a year or two, he has since joined the navy. Is there any way she can sue him or get him to pay for the debt he ran up on her cards? Thanks!

If she gave him permission to use the cards and he is not named on the cards he has no legal responsibility to the cards. Unless she has something in writing that he would pay her back then she is out of luck she could dispute it to the credit card companies but you said its been a year or two so they wont care and they will tell her she is responsible for the debit.

I think there may be a small claims case if he used the credit cards after they broke up, nobody would think he'd be allowed to use her cards after the break up.
