About four months ago my fraternity house was broken into. Not forcibly, the door was unlocked, but they trespassed, entered during the night, and stole a 1200 dollar portrait. We did not file a report because it was virtually impossible to discover who did it.
Recently, a friend found the stolen picture in an apartment with some students who claimed they stole it. It had been vandalized and ruined. My question is this...
Is it still possible to file a report and press charges after this long?
It is also very possible that they have destroyed the evidence completely. But there was a girl there who saw it just last week. I want to know if there is any possibility of taking legal action and getting a result. Thank you.
