My pc at home was hacked by my employer

It has come to my knowledge that my employer used stealth surveillance software to maliciously access the files/IP cache on my personal computer that I have at home for the last three or four months. I frequently use my pc for work related tasks and believe a keylogger program was downloaded, unknowingly, with my permission under the guise of a false support personnel application by my employer last spring. Since finding out about this intrusion of my privacy and violation of my fourth amendment rights, I've had a my computer "swept" twice to see if the stealth program was still activated on my pc. The program has since been removed. However, I still wish to pursue this matter because it has become public knowledge at work that this unwarranted surveillance did occur, and I want to get concrete evidence for a possible civil action against my employer. I was just recently told by a computer technician that further investigation would require law enforcement involvement.

Could anyone recommend a lawyer knowledgeable in e-discovery in Northern New Jersey or New York City for me to discuss this matter further. Thank you.

I can easily let you know the people you need to reach if you haven't already. However, do NOT use the computer until your hard drive has been imaged. You've already done damage by removing it. Hopefully there will still be evidence on the drive. The key is preserving that evidence.

You can take out a support ticket or case review and someone will help you immediately.

How do you know it was your employer?

There are too many things you can't prove here.

Do you have any damages?

Believe it or not, your 4th Amendment rights are not an issue here.

You really don't have much of a case for anything. Be more careful about how you operate your computer.
