My sister-in-law was served divorce papers yesterday. Her husband is divorcing her and wants full custody of thier two young children, wants to pay her off and keep thier house and wants her to pay child support. She doesn't have a job because she's been a stay at home mom since the children were born a few years ago (the boy is 5 and the girl is 4). She doesn't have any money because she has no job. What should I tell her to do? She went to see a lawyer and they want her to put up front $1000 before they will touch her case. She is stuck between a rock and a hard place. What should she do?

Have her contact the state bar association for names of cheap or free lawyers.

Or you could find a lawyer that would take the case if the lawyer thought husband would pay.
