didn't really know where to post this but need some advice. About 5 years ago we had domestic issue and law enforcement was called out. It was one police officer and he said according to the law someone would have to leave. It was decided that the officer would take my wife to a hotel. Well, she has told me recently that the cop raped her. I know there is no evidence and the statute of limitations may have expired. Needless to say we are trying to deal with this but its very difficult. What I am most concerned about is this sob doing this to someone else and don't know where to start to get someone to look at this guy. Any advice? Obviously my wife does not want to testify or anything like that.

Its quite regrettable that your wife suffered this heinous abuse.
I hope and pray that she and you will heal.

I don't know what remedies exist on a matter this old.
I do know that Texas is very tough on sexual offenders.
Texas sexual assault laws, in some cases, don't have a statute of limitation.
Generally speaking, the SOL for these types of crimes can be 10 years.

You and your wife should at least speak with the local District Attorney, Texas Rangers, sheriff, and/or offender's police chief.
Your wife can offer to take a lie detector test.
I know she'll pass.
The alleged perpetrator might refuse or fail.

At least talk to these people.
Offer to take a polygraph, and see what happens.
Good luck, and I hope you get the justice and peace you deserve!

If true, it is likely that the SOL has not tolled. On the other hand, it may not be true at all. Or, if it happened, it may have been consensual. Certainly a brainless act by the officer if consensual, but not criminal.

Your wife has little to lose by reporting it to the police or hiring an attorney ... provided she is telling the truth, of course.

You should make absolutely certain that it is the truth before proceeding, however her reluctance to cooperate will leave the whole thing dead in the water. Personally, I wouldn't report anything unless she was willing to speak about it. You won't be able to speak to the truth of the matter on your own- they will need to hear from her.

her reluctance to talk about it or pursue the officer makes me a little suspect that it occurred. I know if I was a woman and it happened to me I would pursue it. I could spectulate all day long about it but ultimately if she does not want to pursue this guy it is dead in the water. And the true healing may come at the hands of a mental health professional. Thanks for the advice.

If you are taking any action against that cop your wife has to go through medical test First you have to make your wife mentally prepare for such worst conditions that she n\may have to face during investigation then decide to do the action...
All the Best, May you get the justice.
