NC license/VA ticket dilemma

I was recently cited for speeding in VA (77 in a 60) but I have a NC drivers license. I am aware that 15 mph over results in a 30 day suspension, but does this apply out-of-state? Also, I had a ticket about a year ago that was dismissed once I attended driving school and was wondering if this will affect my chances of getting the ticket lowered to a lesser speed or dropped. Is it required in VA to first contact the DA's office prior to showing up in court in order for to get the ticket lowered?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you show for court they should reduce the ticket. If you can get it to an under ten violation, my information is that NC will not post it to your record. However, I had a person state they did post one from VA to his record so you need to check witht he NC DMV to be sure. He was supposed to call the DMV and let me know but I never heard from him. Even if they do post it, it is a no point and no insurance increase so I am not sure why it matters.
