need advice asap

i am just gonna get to the point. i have a friend and she has been threw hell, she has asked me to help her seek out legel advice. ok the situation is she was with this one guy and she ended up getting pregnant. well he was extreamly abusive he has anger problems and arrest records to prove it so naturally she went and got a protective order against him. Now she is being sued for custody of said baby and she does not know what to do. during there time together he raped her beat her pretty much the woman beater rapist you know what i mean. she has gone into court once with this man and has showed evidence of the bruses left and i do belive she showed proof of being raped. now my question is is how can she win this custody case without a lawyer for the simple fact that she can not afford one and anyone she has tried to get answers from has not returned any phone calls,emails, ect. can someone please help.

If you wanna help her, help her get a lawyer.
If this rapist has a lawyer, she's at a huge disadvantage.
In the end, if his lawyer is good, she could lose custody of the child.

No one can help her on this forum.
These cases are too complex for what we do here.
She needs a lawyer.

Maybe you can take up a collection from a bunch of her friends and relatives and other good Samaritans?

If she wants to rid herself of that creep, (and keep her baby) she needs a lawyer, not internet advice.

If there is no way to raise any funds, she might contact groups that help rape victims.

Some churches might also help her.

She could also try legal aid.

If none of that works or is possible, try Googling "pro se child custody Utah" or similar phrases.
You can help her bone up on civil practice and procedure in child custody cases in Utah.

She will need to PROVE that she was raped.

Not an allegation, not a supposition. PROOF.

In other words, a conviction.

As you are not a party to this situation you really can't help...unless you can give her the funds for an attorney.

It would be much more helpful if you were to direct her to this forum so that she can address her own legal situation.
