I got stopped the other night for window tint being to dark the officer asked if he could search my vehicle, i said no. at this time the officer used the k-9 unit to search my vehicle after the k-9 had a positive search the officers began to search my vehicle. The officers found one very small speck of powder between the seats, the officer tested the powder with cobalt and it turned blue. The officer then placed me under arrest for possesion of cocaine, and continued to search my vehicle. After about an hour of searching they found nothing else. The arresting officer came to me and said if I didn't want to go to jail and lose my vehicle that I needed to start telling him where and who is selling drugs around town. I complied, after talking with the officer he wants me to buy drugs from these people using marked bills and I assume a wire. The officer also said that he had 3 years to hold the evidence and file charges against me if I didn't complie. What i would like to know is that if I do buy the drugs and assist in the arrest of these drug dealers that once I have done what the officer wants me to do is he going to still file charges against me. I haven't gave any info on these drug dealers or made a controlled buy yet, but i would like to know what steps should I follow and do i need some form of contract with this officer? Please someone help me with this I am completely lost on what to do in this situation.

If you follow what the officer wants, you may be making the biggest mistake of your life.

Hire a criminal defense attorney, NOW. Someone who specializes in drug charges.

Don't do it.

They have a form for this stating that the charges will be dropped if you comply. They may actually have to do this through the DA. If you sign this form then you would receive immunity from any actions related to this event.

You could get that form, MAKE SURE IT IS SIGNED OFF BY THE DA, and then go ahead with this if you want. Until that point, keep your mouth shut, and if they refuse to put your immunity in writing then get a lawyer.

Rask is completely right. DO NOT do this. Your charges are not serious enough to warrant this sort of thing. I'm not even certain they have enough to convict you. A field test is not sufficient for a conviction in most jurisdictions and he didn't find enough to send the rest to a lab. GET A LAWYER Quick fast and in a hurry. You did plenty telling them where the drugs are being sold. I would highly recommend that you don't become their CI.
