I was arrested back in 2008 and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of simple
assault and 1 count of reckless endangerment. I went to trial and I was found not guilty of the assault charges, but I was found guilty of the misdemeanor. Forward to 2012, the company that I worked for went out of business and I proceeded to fill out applications for work (about 50 so far). I was wandering why it was that I never got a call back. A friend of mine suggested that I do a background check on my-self so I could see what a prospective employer would see. So, I
went to a website (a popular site used by many of the local employers)
and found that there data base has it listed that I was convicted of 3 assault charges and no misdemeanor is even listed. What should I do?

No names please.

You will want to see about getting the record corrected. However, if it will make you feel better, it's unlikely that this has anything to do with your not hearing from prospective employers. You see, employers do not run background checks until after they have already interviewed you and determined who their top candidates are; they do not run background checks to decide which applicants to call for interviews. It costs an employer money to run a check and they're not going to run more than one or two, maybe three, at the most per position. If you had been getting called for interviews, being given reason to think you were a finalist, and then not hearing from the employer then *maybe* this might have something to do with it, but if you're not being called for interview it's about 100% certain that these prospective employers are not seeing anything at all and it's something else that is causing them not to be interested in you.

You might want to have your resume reviewed by a professional.
